Job description
We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Assistant Accountant to join our dynamic and growing team. As an Assistant Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our clients' financial management needs and contributing to the overall success of the firm. This role offers an excellent opportunity for career growth and professional development within the accounting field.
Main Tasks
Core objectives include:
- Liaising with the ATO and other bodies to assist with client matters
- Preparation of statutory and interim financial statements
- Perform reconciliations of accounts, including bank statements, credit cards, and general ledger accounts.
- Assist in the preparation of tax returns, including individuals, partnerships, trusts, companies and SMSFs
- Assist in the preparation and lodgement of tax returns, BAS/GST statements, and other regulatory compliance requirements.
- Provide reporting, financial and value adding analytical support to the business
- Assisting with weekly/fortnightly/monthly payroll
- Handle accounts payable and accounts receivable tasks, including invoice processing, payment allocation, and client billing.
- Participate in financial audits and assist in the documentation of audit findings.
- Provide timely and accurate financial information to clients and internal teams.
- Stay up-to-date with relevant accounting regulations, standards, and industry practices.
- Contribute to process improvements and system enhancements within the firm's accounting operations.
- Assist the team with other ad-hoc duties

Character Requirements
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying issues and proposing solutions.
Qualifications
- At a minimum, a Bachelor's degrees in any business-related fields, with Accounting/Finance/Taxation being highly looked upon
- Specific knowledge in Australian tax law
- Proficiency in using accounting software and tools, with experience in QuickBooks, Xero, or MYOB preferred.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products
- Professional certification or progress towards obtaining certifications such as CPA or CA will be considered an advantage.
- Experience in a similar role, although not required, is preferred
